RHYHM OF THE HEART
I always loved drums and for years when listening to records I would listen closely to the drummer. I've played guitar in a few bands over the years, I still play guitar in fact, and during breaks at rehearsals I would jump onto the drum stool and blast away to everyones dismay. I must admit I hadn't a clue what I was doing but I loved the feeling behind the drum kit. I was passing a charity shop last August and there was a kit in the window up for auction. I wrote the date in my diary and on the day I ran in and bought the kit, or what was left of it, as someone just grabbed the snare before I could say 'Paradiddle' and I left with a Pearl Target bass drum, pedal and two toms. The floor tom was missing too. I took it home and set it up but it looked pretty sad, so I got the phone out or the begging cap and asked friends if they had any bits of percussion they didn't need. I got a Sonor Sonic Force snare, a Pearl 16" Crash and a Pearl Target 14" Snare that ironicakky matched the kit I bought, a DXP 15" Floor Tom and a Pearl 20" CX-500 Ride I prefer over the Zildjian, all for free from donators! I bought used 14" Sabian hats and a Yamaha stand, a stool, two Sonar heavy stands, one was a boom, a Zildjian 20" medium Ride, a Pearl 10" Splash plus boom arm, a Mienl 10" China Splash and a Paiste 18" China Crash over the last few months and now I'm good to go. I've my eye on a Zildjian 18" Crash too. I have been practising everyday and I love it, playing along with my favourite albums, trying to imitate the drummers I love. One thing I've learned about drumming, is that it's instand fun. All I need now is a cowbell!
Things are looking up!
